Repost from Canada Reggae World:

UNESCO

The first prime minister of the JLP, Alexander Bustamante murdered Jamaican people. He ordered the murder of RasTafari people

He is no hero to me

He should be removed from Heroes Circle in my opinion

The next infamous prime minister of the JLP, Edward Seaga is notorious for using the CIA to disrupt the elections as well as the economy of the country. He is also famous for accepting boat loads of guns brought in by the said CIA orchestrating many murders throughout his time as prime minister and forward to this very day

He is no hero to me

Jamaicans today have many events shut down by the police so that these dances don't make any money, putting a further freeze / squeeze on the people making a living. The law enforcement, more corrupt than the streets, is used by the government to abuse the people

No Jamaican would argue with any of the above points

Now UNESCO

Really?

Who is the JLP protecting reggae from?

Show me how this sudden "protection" helps the economy for the disenfranchised as the JLP historically caters to the rich so I'm a tad skeptical knowing the history of corruption in the governments of Jamaica, either PNP or JLP, the corruption is deep

I have seen first hand who these people are

I don't care about any party system of politicians as I have watched now for nearly six decades

There is a proven track record of abuse, murders and corruption in any government

Reggae won't / don't / never needs protection by wolves and snakes

This is Lion territory

Amazing all of the worldwide press that this is receiving

Reggae has been around since the late sixties, making it nearly 60 years old and now, today, you feel like "protecting" it?

If we use the word "protection", let us identify the predators

White owned record labels

the entire music industry

crabs in a barrel fighting among ourselves

the Jamaican government who has no programs protecting the artists internationally

the Jamaican governments not ensuring that Jamaican reggae concerts are protected

the Jamaican governments using the police to shut down dances for the not-so-rich

the Jamaican governments for not employing the best reggae artists in the world to perform at the tourist resorts, earning a proper living for themselves. They are instead hiring foreigners to entertain tourists, locking out Jamaican artists

These are a few and as you can see, I hold the government{s} most responsible

They could have "protected" reggae from time

Why now?

Maybe I'm too cynical?

Please show me differently

Our history proves otherwise

Am I being too cautious?

Not really, I do have history on my side for those seeking the examples of abuse

Proud of Jamaica

Proud of being Jamaican

Tired of de fuckery
